Madison Colony was one of the colonies created by the United Commonwealth after the Seven Stages War. It is home to several of the Testing Candidates presented in the first book. Will Donovan, and his twin brother Gill are from Madison Colony. The colony is said to have at least one city, and some farmland and is most likely located in present-day Madison, Wisconsin.

Located a few hours away from Five Lakes Colony, Cia says that her father has traveled there a few times over the past few years because something in the earth has been killing their crops. She observes the way the twins (Will and Gill) piled their plates and the unhealthy cast to their skin, and she realizes there still isn't enough food to go around Madison Colony.
